Our Work on Sustainability

On this page we share with you our efforts in supporting a sustainable future. 

We purchased the villa in 2014 and continue to do our best to consider the environment, support and use local businesses and follow good business practice.  We have included things we currently do and things we are working towards in the future.  We ask for feedback from all our guests at the end of their stay and welcome suggestions to support our sustainability goals.

Introduction

There are 3 Pillars of Sustainability for Business.  These are Environmental, Social and Economic. Below we have included examples of some of what we do at Villa Caminante currently and what we are working towards in the future within each of these three pillars.  

Pillar 1

Things we do:

  • We encourage switching off lights when not in the villa.

  • Our pool heating is monitored throughout the year. 

  • There are recycling bins available to use locally and we encourage the separating and correct disposal of waste.

  • We provide a washing machine to encourage less luggage and decreased carbon footprint.

  • Our kitchen white goods are selected due to energy efficiency.

  • Bus timetables and information are available in our guest book encourage sustainable travel around the island.

Things we are working on:  

  • We are working towards updating light fittings and bulbs to LED

  • As electrical goods need replaced we do this with better energy efficiency graded goods.

Social (People)

Things we do: 

  • We provide hand soaps and encourage good hand hygiene.

  • We have safety signs around the pool, windows and on exit and entry doors.

  • We fund raise for local animal charities.

  • We use local business for outdoor and indoor furnishings.  

  • Our guest book encourages the use of local restaurants, markets, UNESCO visitor experiences, Bio Farms and Historical Museums.  

Things we are working on:

  • We are moving towards using sustainable bed linen.

  • We are replacing cleaning products with more environmentally friendly alternatives.

Pillar 3

Things we do: 

  • Our villa is fully registered.

  • We adhere to Spanish legistation.

  • We avoid paper copies and are operating on an electronic booking and green hosting online platform.

  • There is a link to our Privacy Statement on the bottom of each page of our website and the facility to unsubscribe to our email list.

Things we are working on:

  • Supporting and using local suppliers for our welcome packs. 

  • Including updates on our sustainability goals via our newsletters and business updates.
